West Sussex based artist whose work has been shown across the UK and internationally.  Her work does not always depict a particular scene but draws on both memory and imagination and the close contact she feels with the British landscape through years of walking through the countryside and beside the sea.   Artist Statement:  ‘The British landscape: hills, mountains, cliffs, seashores, ridges and gullies motivate and inform my work.  I love rugged edges, soft moorland and wild coasts. In particular, I am drawn to heightened light effects.   I aim to capture movement, intense light and atmosphere - particularly glowing horizons, wild skies, receding hills and textured foregrounds.  My intention is to create an emotional response to landscape and successfully negotiate the delicate balance between representation and abstraction.’    ​ Artist Biography: ‘I studied Fine Art at Exeter College of Art after teaching in schools and universities for many years gaining a Masters Degree and Doctorate in Education, I took early retirement to dedicate myself to an art career. I have a light and spacious studio at Colonnade House in Worthing. I devote my time to painting in my studio and sketching in the landscape.’
